Ed Mayer
(below), fondly remembered as the "Father of the Drill Team" formed the group in
1926 and won 1st prize at the July 4th parade in Hamburg that year. Under his
leadership which spanned 20 years, the Team became one of the most outstanding units
in

John Dietrich
(below)
is remembered for his handshakes and smile every time he would see you and his
devoted work done quietly and efficiently, always ready to lend a helping hand to his
community.
Charles A. Spittler, Sr., (right) son of the First Chief George W. Spittler, had the honor of driving the first commercially built fire truck used by the Association, the 1926 American LaFrance Pumper, off the train when it arrived in town in 1927. He was honored in 1998 for his 71 years of service. Upon his death in 1999, the same pumper was used in his funeral procession. |

John Sullivan
(below)
known as "Mr. Fire Prevention" was a
member of the Association for over 30 years and received innumerable awards for his
outstanding service.
James "Ziggy" Ziegelhofer (below) was instrumental in the formation of a separate fire dispatch office dedicated to fire and first aid. As Senior Public Safety Officer he initiated the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) which allows dispatchers to provide valuable life saving instructions over the phone until EMS personnel arrive on location. |
